Tanaki with Tanuki

So, the other day, I thought to myself, "you know.... I really want to draw Tanaki again." So here you go. This is my OC, Tanaki (whom you may recognize) dancing... or.... something... with a couple of Tanuki. (which are Japanese Raccoon-dogs. I think they're technically a different species from raccoons.... I DUNNO, LOOK IT UP ON WIKIPEDIA OR SOMETHING.)

If you've read my ultra-craptastic story that I wrote at the end of 2006, you'll know he's a Raccoon deity, hence his name, the badge on his hat, the raccoons, and the dark circles under his eyes. As of now, he doesn't really serve much of a purpose as an OC except for maybe wearing my clothes. (lol that's my favorite shirt, Tanaki...)

Hurr, about the leaves and the katakana sound effect at the bottom-right corner of the pic... They also tie in with Tanuki/raccoons, because in traditional Japanese mythology, Tanuki/raccoons were known to be shape-shifting creatures that turned into monsters and beautiful women in order to confuse people wandering through their forests. In order to do this, they would often have to put a leaf on their heads as... I dunno, catalysts or something. Often, the sound effect for their transformation is "Doron!" ...which is the sound effect on this pic.

YAY I ACTUALLY KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT MY JAPANESE ANCESTRY. Hurr~
