Part 2 of a study for a charcoal reduction drawing that I intend to do once I finish up some commissions. Part 1 can be found here: (both of these are graphite on the backs of 3x5 inch note cards.)
In this study, I wanted to get a better grasp of the facial structure of the person I want to draw. I always have trouble getting them to look exactly like the reference photos I use, so I figured it'd be a good idea to practice a few times before moving on to the final product. I'm still not pleased with the way it turned out, so I figured I should ask for some critique.
The reference photo can be found here. I'd really appreciate it if anyone gave me some hints and tips to improve this sketch, before I move on to the final drawing. Please focus on the face; the hair and the shoulders/chest area aren't my main focus at the moment.
This looks lovely. Hmm, let me see what I can come up with for critique: -The bridge of the nose seems too thick, and the eyes should be a tiny bit farther apart. -The chin should be centered a bit more (move it more to the left) -The top lip is a little too thick.
